MICHO RETURNS TO SAINT GEORGE FOR THIRD SPELL AS HEAD COACH

Ethiopian giants Saint George, famously known as Kidus Giorgis, have officially reappointed Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic as head coach. It is the Serbian’s third stint in charge of the country’s most decorated club.

The announcement was made at a press unveiling held at the Sheraton Addis Hotel.

Micho has signed a three-year contract with an option for extension. His return reunites The Horsemen with the coach who presided over one of their most successful eras.

During his previous spells in Addis Ababa from 2004 to 2006 and 2007 to 2010, Micho led Saint George to five Ethiopian Premier League titles, one Ethiopian Cup, and three Super Cup crowns.

With over two decades in African football since 2001, Micho is regarded as one of the continent’s most traveled coaches.

His club resume includes Zamalek, ES Setif, Al-Hilal, Orlando Pirates, and Uganda’s record champions SC Villa.

At international level, he guided the Uganda Cranes to the 2017 AFCON in Gabon — their first appearance in 38 years since 1978. He has also handled Zambia’s Chipolopolo, Rwanda’s Amavubi Stars, and Libya.

Saint George finished 6th last season with 54 points from 30 matches and will be hoping Micho can restore them to the top.

Founded in 1935 and based in Addis Ababa, St. George play in the Ethiopian Premier League. The club holds the record for the most domestic championships with over 30 titles.
