Kyaggwe tops Masaza Cup power rankings, as Kyadondo rules in Buddu

In the Buganda Masaza Cup, Kyaggwe stretched its form to top the power rankings with 19 points, while Kyadondo made the competition for quarterfinal qualification tougher with an important 1-0 win over Buddu at Kitovu.

At Trinity College Nabbingo, dominant midfielder Godfrey Ssenyonga scored the only goal in the first half that eventually won the game.

On the other hand, Kyadondo defeated Buddu in Masaka at Kitovu Sports Ground, with Enock Ssekatawa finding the back of the net in the first half. With this, Kyadondo took its point tally to 13, making their progress possible next weekend.

For Buddu, their first loss of the season cost them the top position in the tournament to Kyaggwe, as they remained at 17 points after each team in the tournament played 8 games.

Elsewhere, Mawokota sparked against Bulemeezi with a 4-0 win, the biggest result of the season in Buwama. Kooki humbled Mawogola 2-1, Bugerere beat Kabula 1-0 at Ntenjeru, Ssingo drew 1-1 with Butambala in Mityana, and Busujju beat Buluuli 1-0 at Kakindu. Buwekula defeated Buvuma 2-1 in Mubende at NTC.

On Saturday, Gomba opened the matchday for the traveling teams with a 2-1 win in Lutoboka. After Matchday 8, Gomba is ranked fourth in the tournament power rankings and is the best second-place team.

Bugerere is ranked fifth, Busujju sixth, while Kyadondo rose to 7th and Mawogola completes the top eight so far. Meanwhile, Ssese, Mawokota, Buwekula, Mawogola, Kooki, and Buvuma all carry chances to reach the quarterfinals.
