The StarTimes Uganda Premier League commenced yesterday with four thrilling matches, showcasing a mix of drama, skill, and controversy. Here’s a breakdown of each match:

NEC FC 3-3 Kitara FC: NEC FC Threw Away the Lead Twice

In a six-goal thriller at MTN Omondi Stadium, NEC FC and Kitara FC shared the spoils, with NEC FC’s lead being cancelled out twice.

Joseph Seremba opened the scoring for NEC FC in the 27th minute, with a well-taken goal that showcased his prowess in front of goal. Just 11 minutes later, Seremba’s strike partner, Joseph Dhata Lujang, doubled NEC FC’s lead with a beautifully constructed goal.

However, Kitara FC’s resilience, led by coach Waswa Bbosa, paid off as they pulled one back through George Ssenkaaba in the 52nd minute.

Kitara FC continued to push, and Gaddafi Wahab equalized from the spot in the 75th minute.

NEC FC thought they had snatched the win when substitute Emmanuel Kulanga scored in the 86th minute, but Kitara FC’s determination saw them grab a late equalizer through Emmanuel Waswa in the 90th minute.

NEC FC’s failure to hold on to their lead dropped them to 9th on the table with 16 points from 13 matches, while Kitara FC sit 6th with 23 points from 12 matches.

Midfielder Joseph Seremba was named the player of the match for his impressive display.

Vipers SC 3-0 URA FC: Vipers SC Cruised to Victory

Vipers SC recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over URA FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

The visitors took an early lead through Karim Watambala in the 2nd minute, and despite URA FC’s best efforts, they couldn’t find a way past Vipers SC’s defense.

Vipers SC sealed their victory with two late goals, courtesy of Gusto Mulongo and Karim Watambala, who capitalized on URA FC’s mistakes.

The win took Vipers SC to the top of the table with 30 points from 12 matches, while URA FC slipped to second from bottom with 11 points from 13 matches.

Mbarara City FC 0-0 Lugazi FC: Mbarara City FC Held On for Point

In a surprise encounter at Rwamwanja playground, Mbarara City FC managed to hold Lugazi FC to a 0-0 draw, despite fielding only 11 players with no substitutes.

The point saw Mbarara City FC move to 13th on the table with 11 points from 13 matches, while Lugazi FC remained in the relegation zone, sitting 14th with 11 points.

Express FC 3-1 Buhimba FC: Express FC Claimed Victory

Express FC claimed a 3-1 win over Buhimba FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo. Senyoga Mikidadi opened the scoring for Express FC in the 21st minute, only for Buhimba FC to equalize through Agondeze Edison four minutes later.

Express FC regained the lead through Assimwe John, and Wamala Henry sealed the win with a 78th-minute goal.

The victory took Express FC to 10th on the table with 15 points, while Buhimba FC sat 11th with 13 points from 13 matches.
