Gomba FC team manager Resty Mbatidde Namugema has called on supporters and well-wishers to unite and provide additional financial support as the record Masaza Cup champions race to raise the funds needed for their October 30 final against Kyaggwe.

Gomba raised UGX18.3 million at a fundraising dinner held at Jevine Hotel in Kampala but remain short of their UGX45 million target as they seek to complete preparations for the decisive encounter at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

The 2026 finalists are chasing a historic sixth Masaza Cup crown, with Mbatidde stressing that financial support and unity among stakeholders will be critical to achieving the milestone.

“This is a very crucial time when everyone should put aside the differences amongst us, join hands and accomplish the job,” Mbatidde said.

“Football is run with money, and at this time we need money. Our target is a sixth title, and we are one game away from achieving that goal.”

The UGX18.3 million raised at the dinner represents an important contribution towards the campaign, but Gomba still face a significant funding shortfall as they seek to sustain their preparations and meet the team’s operational expenses.

The Ssaza requires approximately UGX4.6 million per week for camping and feeding, while weekly camp expenses throughout the season have reached UGX7 million, excluding player bonuses.

Gomba have also invested an estimated UGX170 million in player recruitment, underlining the financial demands behind their pursuit of another Masaza Cup championship.

With only one match separating them from the title, the management is now counting on supporters, sponsors and other well-wishers to help close the funding gap and ensure the team enters the final in the best possible condition.

On the pitch, Gomba have demonstrated their determination to reclaim the crown, securing their place in the final with a 3-0 aggregate victory over Butambala in the semi-finals.

After winning the first leg 2-0, Gomba completed the job with a 1-0 victory in the return leg at Kibibi S.S Playground, Hassan Waiswa scoring the decisive goal.

The final against Kyaggwe will be Gomba’s 11th appearance in the Masaza Cup final since 2004, further highlighting their status as one of the competition’s most successful sides.

However, the immediate challenge extends beyond the pitch. As the countdown to October 30 continues, Mbatidde’s appeal is a call for the Gomba fraternity to rally behind the team financially and collectively as they pursue a sixth championship.

For the record champions, the ambition is clear: turn their progress on the field into another Masaza Cup triumph, backed by the unity and resources needed to finish the campaign successfully.
