Uganda Premier League: Maroons FC Staged Epic Comeback

In a thrilling Uganda Premier League encounter at the Rwamwanja playground, Mbarara City FC threw away a two-goal lead, eventually settling for a 2-2 draw with Maroons Football Club. Forward Clinton Kamugisha had put Mbarara City FC in a commanding position with a halftime brace, scoring in the 11th and 43rd minutes to make it 2-0.

However, Maroons FC staged a remarkable comeback, with Ramathan Karim scoring an own goal to pull one back for the visitors. The momentum shifted further in Maroons FC’s favor when agile forward Dickson Niwamanya equalized 12 minutes to stoppage time, securing a point for the visitors.

This was a crucial match for Mbarara City FC, who were looking to get back to winning ways, but they squandered their two-goal advantage in reckless fashion, ultimately dropping two points. The result leaves Mbarara City FC winless in their previous eight matches, with their last victory in the Uganda Premier League dating back to February this year against Calvary FC.

Mbarara City FC are currently 14th on the table, battling against relegation with 17 points from 24 matches. On the other hand, Maroons FC sit 9th with 30 points from 24 matches, having picked up a valuable point away from home.

Mbarara City FC will look to turn their fortunes around when they visit NEC Football Club on April 24th, while Maroons FC host Police FC on April 25th.
