Mbarara City Football Club Parts Ways With Their Head Coach
In a surprise move, Mbarara City FC has announced the departure of its Head Coach, Simon Peter Mugerwa, citing a change in leadership as the club looks to turn its fortunes around in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (UPL). The decision comes after a dismal start to the season, with the club managing just two points from six matches under Mugerwa’s stewardship.

According to a statement released by the club, Mugerwa and his technical team have been relieved of their duties, effective immediately. A caretaker coach will be announced in due course, tasked with the responsibility of getting the team back on track.
“We’d like to thank Simon Peter Mugerwa for his passion and effort during his time as Mbarara City Head Coach,” the statement read. Mugerwa’s departure marks the second coaching change in the UPL this season, following the exit of Calvary Midigo FC’s Jimmy Kintu.
Mbarara City FC is currently languishing second last at the bottom of the UPL table, and the club’s management is under pressure to turn things around. With a new coach at the helm, the team will be hoping to start a new winning streak and improve their chances of survival in the top flight.
The search for a new head coach is already underway, and fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of Mugerwa’s successor.
