Matchday 3 round-up
The Masaza Cup roared back to life today as three matches opened the latest round of fixtures, delivering goals, drama and early statements from teams looking to lay down a marker.
In Bulange group, Buvuma continued their perfect start to the campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Buluuri. Playing in front of their home fans, Buvuma showed composure and attacking intent to claim their second win in as many weeks, having beaten Buweekula last weekend.

Raymond Lubanga and Kaweesi Rogers were on target for the hosts, cancelling out Abdul Nkono’s strike for Buluuri. The result leaves Buluuri in deep trouble after suffering a third straight defeat, while Buvuma climb with momentum.
Patrick Lokasto was named Man of the Match for his influential performance in the Buvuma midfield.
There was no joy for Busiro in Masengere group as Simon Dungu’s side were thrashed 3-0 away at Lutoboka playground by a red-hot Ssese team.

The defeat marked Busiro’s second loss in a row after going down 1-0 to Kyagwe last weekend, and early questions will now be asked about how they respond. Ssese, by contrast, picked up their first victory of the campaign in emphatic fashion.
Buwambo forward Benon Vianey Kigenyi opened the scoring in the 15th minute before Raymond Kayemba came alive late on, netting twice in the 83rd and 85th minutes to seal the points. Kayemba’s brace earned him the Man of the Match award and gave Ssese a much-needed boost.

At Kibibi SS playground in Muganzirwaza group, Butambala edged Ssingo 1-0 to remain the only unbeaten side in the group. Agile and pacy forward Brian Katete scored the only goal of the game, continuing Butambala’s impressive form in this edition. They now have two home wins and a point picked up away at Kabula, putting them top of Muganzirwaza with seven points.
The performance suggested a side with belief and structure, and one that will be tough to dislodge as the group stage progresses.
With three games played and three different stories told, the Masaza Cup has started exactly how we expect — unpredictable, competitive, and full of pride. Buvuma are building momentum, Ssese have announced themselves with authority, and Butambala are setting the early pace as group leaders. For Busiro and Buluuri, however, the alarm bells are already ringing.
