Sky View Boys Schools Cricket Week 2026 Gets Underway

The 2026 Sky View Boys Schools Cricket Week got underway today, Sunday, in Fort Portal with a shock result as four-time champions Jinja SS suffered an opening-day defeat to Soroti SS. Across all grounds, the 20-team tournament bowled off with all teams battling for early points and a strong start to their respective group campaigns.

St. Cornelius vs Nyakasura School at SLECK 1.

St. Cornelius 48/10 | Nyakasura School 49/2.

Nyakasura School won by 8 wickets.

Philemon Rwothomio made an early shout for the best bowler of the tournament with a remarkable display against St. Cornelius as hosts Nyakasura School cruised to an eight-wicket win in Group C.

Rwothomio returned impressive figures, claiming four wickets while conceding very little, as Nyakasura bundled out the debutants for just 48. The hosts made light work of the chase, reaching 49/2 inside six overs, with Rwothomio also contributing with the bat, scoring 26 off 19 balls; the victory gave Nyakasura an early advantage in Group C.

Soroti SS vs Jinja SS at Kicwamba 1. Soroti SS 79/10 | Jinja SS 73/10.

Soroti SS won by 6 runs.

Five-time champions Jinja SS suffered the first major upset of the tournament after losing by six runs to Soroti SS. After bowling out Jinja for 73, Soroti successfully defended their modest total of 79 in a tense, low-scoring encounter.

Jinja appeared to be in control of the chase but were unable to cross the finish line, with Daniel Ecweru producing a decisive spell late in the innings. Jinja needed 11 runs from the final three overs but managed only four, with Ecweru claiming four wickets to complete a remarkable victory.

The former champions will now need a strong response in their remaining Group C fixtures if they are to progress to the Super Eight.

Kasese SS vs. Lango College at Kicwamba 2.

Lango College 150/6; Kasese SS 38/10.

Lango College won by 112 runs.

Debutants Lango College made a strong statement in their Group D opener, defeating Kasese SS by 112 runs.

Emmanuel Ogwang produced the first half-century of the tournament, scoring an unbeaten 54 to help Lango College post 150/6. Ogwang was also instrumental with the ball, claiming three wickets as Kasese were bowled out for just 38. The emphatic victory puts Lango College at the top of Group D after the opening round of matches.

Good Heart vs. Masaka SSS at Nyakasura.

Masaka SS 86/9; Goodheart SS 72/7.

Masaka SS won by 14 runs.

Goodheart SS were unable to back their decision to field first against Masaka SS after falling 14 runs short in their Group B opener. Masaka posted 86/9 in their allotted innings before restricting Goodheart to 72/7 in reply.

The result gives Masaka an early lead in Group B, with the other group members set to play their opening fixtures in the afternoon.

Shree International vs. Kira College Butiki at SLECK

  1. Kira College Butiki 144/5; Shree International 78/10.

Kira College Butiki won by 66 runs.

Kira College Butiki emerged as comfortable winners against Shree International in Group A, securing a 66-run victory.

The Butiki side drew inspiration from the duo of Muhaisin Tambulira and Gideon Outeke, who scored 41 off 45 and 43 off 31 respectively to help Kira College post 144/5. Shree International struggled in the chase and were bowled out for 78 in the 15th over, as Kira College secured maximum points from their opening fixture.

Shree Sahajanand School Uganda vs Rwenzori HS at Nyakasura.

Rwenzori HS 55/10 | Shree SSU 61/0.

Shree SSU won by 10 wickets.

Central region champions Shree Sahajanand School Uganda made light work of Rwenzori HS, following their 10-wicket win in their opening game in Group D.

The side had the trio of Shlok Dalwadi, Jesani Hement, and Patel Pransu each pick three wickets as they bundled out Rwenzori for 55 in 12.4 overs.

Their chase was unlaboured, with Het Pindoriya scoring 30 off 16 and Devansh Patel adding 25 off 12 to ensure the target was reached inside five overs.

Ndejje SS vs St. John’s HS, Kauga at Canon Apolo.

St. John’s 150/4 | Ndejje 49/7.

St. John’s won by 101 runs. Baby Cricket Cranes U19 all-rounder Jackson Asiku bagged a half-century, scoring 69 off 40 balls to guide his St. John’s HS, Kauga side to a 101-run victory against Ndejje SS. Asiku was also in the forefront with the ball, picking three wickets to ensure Ndejje managed only 49/7 in their innings. With this victory, St. John’s takes an early lead in Group B.

Uganda Martyrs College, Ssonde vs Soroti SS at Kicwamba 1.

Soroti SS 125/6 | Uganda Martyrs College 87/10. Soroti SS won by 38 runs. Soroti SS followed their remarkable morning win against four-time champions Jinja SS with a 38-run victory against debutants Uganda Martyrs College, Ssonde. The result makes it two wins in two games for Soroti SS.

James Oboi, who scored 40 off 43 balls, and Pauline Ongoru, who returned figures of 4/10, were among the players who shone for Soroti in the afternoon. Soroti SS will head into match day two leading Group C with maximum points.

St. James SS vs Good Heart at Kicwamba 2.

St. James 130/6 | Goodheart 71/10.

St. James won by 59 runs.

This game produced the tournament’s third half-century, with Shabir Ullah scoring an impressive 61 off 48 balls.

St. James had two of their batters dismissed for ducks, but Ullah’s half-century helped them post 130/6.

Goodheart SS was unable to chase the target and was bowled out for 71, handing St. James a 59-run victory. The result was Goodheart’s second loss in Group B after losing their opening game.

Gulu HS vs. Shree International at SLECK 1.

Gulu HS 140/7 | Shree International 67/9.

Gulu HS won by 73 runs.

Gulu HS began their campaign with a comfortable 73-run win against Shree International.

The northern side posted 140/7 before producing a disciplined bowling display to restrict Shree International to 67/9. Gulu HS will head into their second game tomorrow leading Group A.

Lango College vs. Olila HS at SLECK 2.

Olila HS 76/9 | Lango College 78/5. Lango College won by 5 wickets.

Another team to win both their opening games was debutant Lango College.

The side followed up their emphatic morning victory over Kasese SS with a five-wicket win against Olila HS. Lango successfully chased Olila’s 76/9, reaching 78/5 to secure their second victory of the day and move to the top of Group D.

The opening morning of the 2026 SkyView Boys Schools Cricket Week delivered an early mix of dominant performances and surprises.

While Nyakasura School, Lango College, Masaka SS, and Kira College Butiki opened their campaigns with convincing victories, Soroti SS produced the biggest statement of the morning by stunning four-time champions Jinja SS and completing a double-header on day one.
