CHAN 2024: Host Uganda Losses Opening Match 3-0 to Algeria.

Tough start for Uganda Cranes in the 2024 African Nations Championship, losing 3-0 to Algeria in their match today at Nelson Mandela National Stadium.
Defender and Algeria’s captain Ayoub Ghezala broke the deadlock with a header from a corner kick in the 36th minute .

Algeria doubled their lead through Abderrahmane Meziane Bentahar in the 76th minute and three minutes later Soufiane Bayazid netted the third goal for Algeria.
At end of the final whistle Algeria thrashed Uganda 3-0 at home . Uganda is the only host nation at the ongoing CHAN Tournament that has failed to win their opening match .
It should be recalled Tanzania defeated Burkina Faso 2-0 while Kenya defeated DR Congo 1-0.

Uganda’s group stage prospects have become more challenging, but not impossible. They still have chances to progress to the next stage with wins in their upcoming matches against Guinea, South Africa and Niger .
This loss add pressure on the team to perform well. Uganda has never progressed beyond group stages in their seven previous CHAN appearance winning just two of their 19 matches
Uganda Cranes will return to action this Friday as they take on Guinea.
