Black Stars FC Take the Crown And UGX 20M After 35-Match Marathon

As FUFA tested the new league format, it opted to use the Kampala Region League as the testing ground, and the champions were promised UGX 20M as prize money.

The experiment delivered drama right to the final whistle, with the title race proving that the revamped structure could produce tension worthy of top-flight football.

The Kampala Region League went to the wire as two sides, Proline FC and Black Stars Football Club, were contesting for the championship with just one point separating the two sides. For 35 matches each team had pushed, stumbled, and recovered, but it all came down to the last day.

At Mutesa II Wankulukuku, Black Stars FC got the job done as they defeated Edgars Football Club 1-0.

Alex Ssekyanzi scored the lonely goal that gave the Kanyanya-based side three maximum points, and this helped them to become the champions of the Kampala Region League 2025-26. One moment of quality was enough to turn a season’s work into silverware.

At Lugogo MTN Omondi Stadium, Proline FC defeated Born Talent FC 2-0 courtesy of Bazanye John’s brace, but it wasn’t important because Edgars lost to Black Stars FC. Proline did their part, but with their rivals holding firm, the one-point gap that had defined the race all season remained unbridgeable.

Best Goalkeeper- Siraje Masembe Quintana.

It was a long season of new league format where each team played 35 matches. The extended campaign tested squad depth, consistency, and mentality, and Black Stars showed they had all three when it mattered most.

Best goalkeeper went to Siraje Masembe Quintana of Black Stars Football Club. His shot-stopping and command of the box gave the champions a reliable foundation all season long.

Topscorer Award went to Lutaaya Benon, the goal poacher of Black Stars Football Club, who sealed a move to Bulemeezi Ssaza FC. His instinct in front of goal was decisive throughout the campaign. He scored 22 League goals.

For Proline FC, this is a season to remember despite losing the title on just one point difference. They pushed the champions all the way and will take belief from how close they came.

For Black Stars FC, it’s jubilation to their side, but they will face Buwambo United Football Club in the playoff finals, and the winner over two legs will progress to the FUFA Big League. The regional title is secured. Now the bigger prize awaits.
