SEROMA CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL DECLARES READINESS TO HOST USSSA BALL GAMES I 2027
Mukono, Uganda – Seroma Christian High School has expressed full readiness to host the 2027 USSSA National Ball Games I Championship after inspection visits by officials from USSSA and the Ministry of Education and Sports last weekend.
The school, located along the Mukono-Katosi Road, is among 15 schools that submitted bids to host the 2027 championships — the highest number of bids ever received by USSSA, according to CEO Christopher Mugisha. Applications closed on October 3, 2026.
Resident Director Mrs. Amelia Kyambadde told inspectors that the school has the capacity to host thousands of student-athletes, officials, and fans. She cited adequate facilities for accommodation, feeding, security, medical services, competition venues, and separate boarding facilities for boys and girls.
Ball Games I is one of Uganda’s largest school sports championships, attracting over 250 teams nationwide to compete in basketball (boys & girls), netball, girls’ football, hockey, badminton, table tennis, lawn tennis, volleyball and other emerging sports.
USSSA confirmed that the 2027 edition will be staged separately from the U20 Boys Football Championship to allow for better public engagement.
Speaking during the bidding process, Mugisha noted: “Hosting a USSSA National Championship is more than organizing a sports event. It is an opportunity to inspire young people, promote sports development, showcase your institution and community, and contribute to the growth of school sports in Uganda.”
Seroma Christian High School, whose motto is “Heads but not tails,” has built a strong sporting reputation. The school topped the boys’ category with 190 points and finished second overall with 390 points at the 2024 USSSA Swimming Championships.
Guided by Christian values of Lordship for Christ, Respect, Excellence, Honesty, Integrity and Teamwork, the school says it is well-positioned to serve as a hub for youth talent identification and character building.
If selected, Seroma will co-host the championship with Namilyango College School in Mukono District. Under the current plan, three host clusters will stage the Elite Games, Ball Games I and Ball Games II separately.
USSSA is expected to announce the final hosts soon after completing inspection reports for all bidding schools.
