South Sudanese Star Joseph Dhata Extends NEC FC Contract

Joseph Dhata has signed a new three-year contract extension with NEC FC, committing his future to the club until June 30, 2028.
This deal reflects the club’s confidence in his abilities and solidifies his position as a cornerstone of their squad.

Born on September 5, 2002, in Yei, South Sudan, Dhata began his football journey in South Sudan’s youth setups and later played in various Ugandan tournaments, showcasing his pace and versatility as a right-back.
Dhata has played for several clubs, including:
Vipers SC: Made 9 appearances in the 2020/21 UPL season, gaining valuable top-flight experience at 18.

Express FC: Featured in 16 matches during the 2022/23 season, contributing defensively and offensively with precise crosses and occasional goals.
NEC FC: Signed in July 2023, Dhata immediately established himself as a key figure, scoring six goals in the StarTimes UPL and six more in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, including a memorable hat-trick against Acholi United.
Dhata’s participation in the 2024/25 season was limited due to injuries, prompting a strategic move to Blacks Power in the FUFA Big League to support his recovery.

Dhata has earned four caps for South Sudan, including a goal in a 1-1 draw against Sao Tome and Principe in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
