BABY CRICKET CRANES REACH FINAL WORLD CUP QUALIFIER WITH PERFECT FORM
On the road to Bangladesh for the 2028 ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup, the Baby Cricket Cranes of Uganda have reached the final round of the qualifiers with four wins from four games.
The team, which is taking part in the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Division 2 in Rwanda, sealed its slot in the upcoming Africa Division 1 qualifiers next year with a 98-run win over Sierra Leone on Thursday, August 13, at the Gahanga Main Oval.
The victory came after Uganda won the toss, elected to bat first, and posted 152 runs all out in 45.3 overs before successfully limiting Sierra Leone to 54 runs all out in just 28.4 overs.
In the previous games of the qualifiers, the team had already defeated Ghana by 175 runs in Game 3, beaten Mozambique by a huge 384-run margin in Game 2, and started with a 5-wicket win over Nigeria.
With those perfect performances, Uganda, alongside Rwanda and Nigeria, qualified for the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Division 1. They will join Namibia, Tanzania, and Kenya in the fight for a slot at the U19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh.
The ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Division 1 qualifiers are scheduled to take place on dates yet to be decided. The winner of the qualifiers will join the global stage at the 50-over Cricket World Cup in 2028.
