NUP’s Vision For Sports Development: A New Uganda Now .

The National Unity Platform (NUP) has unveiled a comprehensive manifesto for the 2026-2031 period, dubbed “A New Uganda Now”.

This document outlines the party’s vision for transforming Uganda, with a focus on restoring democracy, promoting economic growth, and improving the lives of citizens.

Led by presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, NUP’s manifesto emphasizes key priorities such as ;

Develop Infrastructure: Build regional stadiums with capacities of at least 20,000, meeting international standards, and upgrade existing facilities to end Uganda’s reliance on playing home matches abroad.

Promote Grassroots Sports: Invest in district-level infrastructure, support local clubs and academies, and establish elite training programs to prepare athletes for top-level competitions.

Empower Youth and Women: Promote sports as a pathway to employment and social growth, focusing on gender equity and preserving traditional games to protect cultural heritage.

Public- Private Partnership: The party will purse Partnerships with private sectors stakeholders to finance new stadiums, training centers and sports development programs sustainably.

Integrate with Creative Economy: Link sports with arts, culture, and tourism to position Uganda as a global talent and cultural hub, driving jobs, national pride, and international visibility.

By focusing on these areas, NUP aims to transform Uganda’s sports sector, promote youth development, and showcase the country’s talent globally.
