Nabukenya’s 100th-Minute Strike Crowns Kawempe Muslim CECAFA Champions
Kawempe Muslim Ladies have been crowned CECAFA Women’s Champions after a dramatic victory over Kenya Police Bullets, with Agnes Nabukenya striking in the 100th minute to seal a memorable regional triumph.
It was a final defined by tactical discipline, midfield battles and very few clear-cut chances, as both sides maintained a compact defensive shape and made it difficult for their opponents to create openings.
Kenya Police Bullets came into the final well prepared, having studied Kawempe Muslim’s attacking strengths. Their game plan was evident as they closely monitored the Ugandan side’s key forwards.

Agnes Nabukenya and Jovia Nakagolo, two of Kawempe’s biggest attacking threats, were kept under tight control for most of the contest and struggled to find the space they normally enjoy.
Margret Kunihira also played a significant role for Kenya Police Bullets. The former Kawempe Muslim player repeatedly looked to unsettle her former club, using her familiarity with the Ugandan side to create problems.
With neither team willing to give anything away, the contest appeared destined to remain locked until a late set piece situation changed everything.
Deep into the 100th minute, Kawempe Muslim won a free kick. Although Nabukenya did not take the set piece, she reacted quickest to the resulting second ball, unleashing a dramatic strike that finally broke the deadlock.
The late goal triggered huge celebrations from the Kawempe Muslim camp and proved decisive as the Ugandan champions held on to claim the CECAFA title.
It was a fitting reward for a team that had remained patient despite being denied clear opportunities throughout the final.
The regional championship also gives Kawempe Muslim Ladies a ticket to the CAF Women’s Champions League, where they will now represent Uganda on the continental stage.
After a final built on defensive discipline, tactical intelligence and patience, Kawempe Muslim found their moment when it mattered most.
