Friday, August 21, 2026, marked a historical day as Uganda Premier League club Mbarara City FC unveiled a sponsor and key plans for the upcoming season.

The event, held at Twed Towers, Nakasero, saw Mbarara City FC unveil Africa Coffee Park as the main shirt sponsor in a four-year undisclosed deal which includes offering the club a new home in Ntungamo.

At the press conference, the partnership immediately announced Cold Brew, an Africa Coffee Park brand, as the official soft drink for the club among players, officials, fans and partners.

Further, the club announced plans to rebrand to Ankole Football Club come next season with the plans to find execution immediately by alerting the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).

Newly re-elected Club Chairperson, Honorable Mwine Mpaka Rwamirama, confirmed the development, “From the beginning, our plan was to cover the entire Ankole region, even our logo speaks. Come next season, we are looking forward to rebranding as Ankole FC so that we can cover and develop talents in the entire region.”

Mbarara City Football Club remains the longest-lasting football team from the Western part of the country to last up to 10 years while playing in the two tiers of Ugandan Association football, having spent eight years in the top flight.

As the club is about to celebrate a decade this coming Tuesday in Ntungamo at the partner’s home in Ntungamo, Club Chairman Hon. Mpaka announced a new chapter for the club, “After all the time we have been at the top level of Uganda’s football…”

“8 years in the top flight since 2016, now we are no longer a small club that is playing for survival anymore; now we are a club to compete and start winning titles, including the Uganda Premier League,” he announced.

Further, the club announced 8 new players and 7 departures as the club reshapes under the stewardship of veteran coach Francis Mugerwa, who is awaiting his official unveiling with his squad, which includes players and backroom staff.
