East African Match Officials have struggled for appointments at the ongoing CHAN Tournament: A Look at the Challenges.
East African match officials are indeed facing challenges in getting appointments at the ongoing CHAN Tournament. The tournament’s group stage composition, with three East African countries (Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda) in Groups A-C, limits the chances of match officials from these countries being appointed.

Groupings and Challenges:
Group A: Kenya, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, Zambia
Group B: Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic
Group C: Uganda, Niger, Guinea,South Africa,Algeria
Group : Senegal, Congo, Sudan, Nigeria
This grouping makes it difficult for East African officials to be appointed, especially when matches involve teams from their own region. The appointing authority might be cautious in assigning officials to matches involving teams from the same region to maintain impartiality

The uncertainty surrounding further appointments for Kasalirwe Lucky Razake and Ronald Katenya, who have each officiated one match, highlights the challenges faced by East African officials in this tournament
With Kenya and Tanzania already in the quarterfinals and Uganda just a point away from qualifying, East African match officials might face challenges in getting appointments for the knockout stages. This is mainly due to potential conflicts of interest or bias concerns, which could impact their impartiality.

Impact on Match Officials:
Limited Opportunities: If two or three East African countries qualify for the quarterfinals, it may limit opportunities for local match officials to officiate in the knockout stages, especially if their countries are involved.
Impartiality Concerns: The appointing authority may prioritize match officials from other regions to ensure impartiality and fairness in the tournament.
