Gladiators Flagged Off for Africa Kabaddi Championship

Ahead of the Africa Kabaddi Men’s Cup, which is due to take place from August 1–13 at Amaani Stadium in Zanzibar, the Uganda national team was flagged off on Monday, July 27, at the National Council of Sports in Lugogo.
The team was flagged off by the NCS Assistant General Secretary for Administration, Joseph Oluga, alongside James Kasumba, the NCS Sports Officer.
Heading into the fourth edition of the Africa Kabaddi Men’s Championship, the Gladiators have taken a squad of 11 players, coached by John Nsibambi and Stanley Gombe.
The squad faces a tough task against countries such as Cameroon, Tanzania, Burundi, hosts Zanzibar, and defending champions Kenya.
In the last edition, Uganda finished second behind hosts Kenya after a final that ended 44–23 in July 2024.
Squad: Mulalira Douglas (captain), Sengendo Jimmy (assistant captain), Okid Carnal Mark (third captain), Wandeka Mubarak, Mutebi Simon, Tenywa Marvin Gasta, Ibanda Derrick, Ngabirano Innocent, Yiga John, Tamusuza Rayan Mubiru, and Kamoga Frank.
