James Bogere Scores Twice As Aarhus Take 2-1 Lead Against Sabah

James Bogere was the hero for AGF Aarhus as his brace secured a 2-1 home win over Sabah FK in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie.
The Ugandan forward opened the scoring on 31 minutes with a powerful first-time strike, before doubling the lead on 63 minutes after being played through by Magnus Knudsen.
Sabah pulled one back through Veljko Simić on 67 minutes to keep the tie alive. The Azerbaijani side thought they had an equalizer in added time when Steve Solvet scored from a free-kick, but VAR ruled it out.
Aarhus goalkeeper Mads Hedenstad Christiansen made key saves to deny Aleksey Isayev and Umarali Rakhmonaliyev, while Rakhmonaliyev also hit the crossbar late on.
Bogere was named Man of the Match. Aarhus now take a narrow advantage to Baku for the return leg next week.
Final Score: AGF Aarhus 2-1 Sabah FK
