NCS flags off youth breaking team to Chengdu for World Ranking Championship.
The Uganda National Youth Breaking Team was officially flagged off on September 10 at the National Council of Sports (NCS) head offices in Lugogo for the Chengdu, China, World Ranking Championship which considers players born in the 2008–2012 Olympic cycle.
The team of three and their coach were flagged off by Assistant NCS General Secretary for Administration Joseph Oluga who is acting as the General Secretary, alongside Senior Sports Officer Annie Nankya.
At the event, Oluga addressed the team, emphasizing, “We are sending you as our best; you are not representing your school. You are going to Chengdu to represent Uganda, so represent us well.”
He added, “The government is investing heavily. You heard the Uganda Dance Sport Federation General Secretary say that NCS has provided finances for the federation for this and the next quarter. We seek excellence, so you must work hard to be the best in the world.”
The team—Ntulume George William (St Lawrence Crown City), Muzaki Vanessa Aidah of St Julian Gayaza and Kawala Sophia, led by Head Coach Serwakulya Edrine—is departing for Chengdu, China, tonight to represent Uganda at the WDSF World Breaking Championship, taking place September 12–13, 2026.
Team captain George William Ntulume said, “We are going to this championship to represent the nation well, but we also aim to qualify for the upcoming Youth Summar Olympics.”
Through this World Breaking Ranking Championship, the team will qualify for the main Summer Youth Olympic qualifiers at the World Urban Games, which will feature sports disciplines ahead of next year’s youth games.
