Mawogola Determined to Upset Kyaggwe, Mwanaadamu Sends Serious Warning

Ahead of this year’s Airtel Masaza Cup double-legged quarterfinals, Mawogola is set to host its first knockout game at home in 17 years on 13th of this month

The Buganda Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts hosted a preparatory meeting at Bulange, where Mawogola Ssaza Team Chairman Uthuman Kateregga Mwanaadamu warned Kyaggwe.

“As Mawogola we are very grateful to Allah that we are awaiting to host our first knockout game in Mawogola since 2009, but also we are yet to celebrate because our mission is Kabaka’s handshake.”

“So Kyaggwe as they insinuate to host us at our home as they say, I am warning them that we are ready to damage their plans. We are building Mawogola’s legacy through Masaza Cup so we don’t mean to joke.”

“We are a team in unity, all players and coaches are not shaken. To our beloved fans, we urge you to come in big numbers including students who will access the game free of charge.”

Despite the recent stunning performance of Kyaggwe, Mawogola remains undisputed in terms of pedigree over Kyaggwe, having played in two Masaza Cup finals in 2004 and 2009, while Kyaggwe only reached there once in 2024.

Mawogola Head Coach Muggaga Andrew

Mawogola lost to Gomba on both occasions, 3-0 in the inaugural Buganda Masaza Cup final and 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time in 2009. Kyaggwe lost their only final to Buddu 1-0 in 2024.

As Mawogola continues to seek a third final in history, much trust is placed in Coach Andrew Mugagga, who guided them to their first quarterfinal since 2020 during the edition that took place at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
