Kigezi HomeBoyz FC Name Rt. Hon. Amama Mbabazi as Club Patron

New Uganda Premier League entrants Kigezi HomeBoyz Football Club have officially unveiled Rt. Hon. Amama Mbabazi as the club’s Patron.
The announcement marks a major milestone for the club as it prepares for its debut season in the top flight. Club officials said Mbabazi’s appointment reflects their commitment to building not just a competitive team, but an institution rooted in community values, discipline, and long-term growth.
In a statement, the club expressed gratitude to the former Prime Minister for accepting the role and for believing in the HomeBoyz vision.

“We sincerely thank Rt. Hon. Amama Mbabazi for accepting this role and for believing in our vision. We look forward to his guidance, support and contribution as we continue building a stronger club and inspiring the next generation,” the club said.
Kigezi HomeBoyz earned promotion to the Uganda Premier League last season and are now focused on establishing themselves among the elite. With Mbabazi on board as Patron, the club hopes to tap into his vast experience in leadership, governance, and national development to strengthen structures both on and off the pitch.
The club believes his presence will also inspire young players from Kigezi and across Uganda to dream bigger, while attracting more support from government, corporate partners, and fans who want to see football used as a tool for talent development and community pride.

Rt. Hon. Amama Mbabazi, a lawyer and statesman from Rukungiri in the Kigezi sub-region, served as Uganda’s Prime Minister from 2011 to 2014 and previously held key cabinet roles including Minister of Security, Defence, and Attorney General. Widely respected for his leadership and commitment to youth and community development, Mbabazi is expected to provide strategic guidance and support as Kigezi HomeBoyz FC embarks on its Uganda Premier League journey.
