KCCA FC and NEC FC will lock horns in the highly anticipated FUFA Super 8 final at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, on Tuesday evening, with both sides chasing their first piece of silverware under their respective head coaches.

KCCA FC head into the final with renewed confidence after an impressive run under Brian Ssenyondo. The Kasasiro Boys have reached the Super 8 final for the third time since the competition was introduced in 2018, having previously featured in the championship match in 2018 and 2019.

KCCA began their campaign with a 4-2 aggregate victory over BUL FC in the quarter finals before narrowly overcoming Kitara FC 1-0 in the semi-final. Saidi Mayanja scored the decisive early goal to send the Kasasiro Boys into the final.

The competition has also given Ssenyondo an opportunity to assess his squad ahead of the new Uganda Premier League season. Midfielder Yunus Sibira has impressed in the heart of the midfield, while Elvis Ngonde and striker Charles Lwanga have also benefited from valuable playing time.

Ssenyondo says his priority is to build a united KCCA side capable of fighting for one another, while urging the club’s supporters to turn up and provide the energy needed in the final.

“We want to present ourselves in the best way tomorrow. I want to create a family-like team here, a team that can play and die for each other. I call upon the fans to come and support us because their energy pushes us even more,” said Ssenyondo.

For the KCCA head coach, Tuesday’s final presents an opportunity to claim his first trophy with the club and give the Kasasiro Boys an early boost before the new league season gets underway.

NEC FC, however, arrive at Hamz Stadium with their own ambitions and a point to prove.

Badru Kaddu’s side have reached the Super 8 final for the second consecutive season after falling to SC Villa in last year’s final at Kadiba.

NEC opened their campaign with a 3-2 aggregate victory over Entebbe UPPC before producing one of the tournament’s biggest statements in the semi-final, coming from behind to defeat SC Villa 3-1.

Forward Richard Basangwa has been central to NEC’s attacking threat, scoring three goals in the competition so far. His pace, movement and finishing will be among the major concerns for a KCCA defence preparing for a demanding final.

With both teams having enjoyed strong runs to the championship match, Tuesday’s encounter promises to be a closely contested battle between two sides determined to start the new season with silverware.

Their Road to the Final

KCCA FC

  • Quarter-final, first leg: KCCA FC 2-1 BUL FC
