Mutula Mathew Pens Emotional Farewell to Kanyanya Ex Players After Three Glorious Seasons

After three unforgettable seasons, seasoned forward Mutula Mathew has officially bid farewell to Kanyanya Ex Players, closing a chapter filled with silverware, heartbreak, and brotherhood in the Kampala North Oldies League.

Mutula’s arrival at Kanyanya marked the beginning of a golden period for the club. He quickly became a key figure in the dressing room, leading by example both on and off the pitch. His impact was felt immediately when he helped steer the team to Kampala North Oldies League glory in 2024, ending years of waiting and delivering the championship trophy to the Kanyanya faithful.

Two years later, Mutula was once again at the heart of the action as Kanyanya fought their way back to the final in 2026. Though they fell short against a determined Kataka Ex Players side, his leadership and experience were crucial in taking the team that far. Those moments, both the triumph and the near miss, cemented his legacy as one of the club’s most respected players in recent history.

In a heartfelt farewell message, Mutula took time to reflect on the journey and to thank the people who made it special. He reserved special appreciation for Mr. Romeo Ssempira, whose support and mentorship he described as instrumental during his stay.

“I want to sincerely thank everyone who stood with me during my time at Kanyanya Ex Players, most especially Mr. Romeo. To the players, the technical team, the management, and the fans, thank you for the love, the belief, and for the success we achieved together. You made me feel at home from day one,” Mutula said.

He went on to confirm that it was time to move on, but not without leaving behind words of gratitude and goodwill for the club that gave him a platform to shine.

“I have officially closed my chapter with Kanyanya Ex Players in the Kampala North Oldies League. It has been an honor to wear this jersey. I wish the club nothing but the best in all their future endeavors,” he added.

With the National Oldies League fast approaching, Mutula now turns his attention to a new challenge. He says his full focus will be on helping his side, Kiwanga Legends FC, compete at the highest level.

“As the National Oldies League approaches, I want to concentrate fully on my team, Kiwanga Legends FC . The goal is to give my best and help the team achieve great things,” Mutula concluded.

Kanyanya Ex Players lose not just a player, but a leader, a champion, and a true ambassador of the Oldies game.
