She Corporate Defender Margaret Namirimu Retires From Football
She Corporate FC defender Margaret Namirimu has announced her retirement from playing football, closing a chapter filled with league titles, cup glory and national team honors.
In an emotional statement, Namirimu said it was time to move on, but with gratitude.
“Today, I close a very special chapter of my life as I retire from playing football.
This decision was not easy, but I leave the game with a happy and thankful heart. Football has given me so much. It has taught me valuable lessons, helped me grow, and given me memories that I will carry forever,” Namirimu said.
Club Journey With She Corporate Namirimu’s career began at Mutesa Royal University WFC before she joined She Corporate FC, where she became a key figure in defense.
During her time with the club, she celebrated major success:
“We won the 2021/22 FUFA Women Super League, the 2024 FUFA Women’s Cup, and the 2024 FUFA Women Elite League. Reaching the 2022 CECAFA Women’s Champions League Qualifiers with She Corporate FC is another achievement I will always be proud of.”
Proud Crested Cranes Career
For Namirimu, representing Uganda was the pinnacle.
“Representing Uganda was the greatest honour of my career. Winning the 2022 CECAFA Women’s Championship with the Crested Cranes and playing at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations were dreams that came true. Every time I wore the Uganda jersey, I gave my all with pride.”
Message To The Next Generation
The defender thanked everyone who supported her and had a special message for young girls dreaming of football.
“I want to thank every coach, teammate, club, supporter, friend, and family member who stood by me throughout this journey. Your support, belief, and encouragement meant everything to me.”
“To every young girl who dreams of playing football, never stop believing in yourself. Keep working hard, stay patient, and trust the journey. Every dream is possible when you give it your best.”
While her playing days are over, Namirimu says her football story continues.
“Although my playing days have come to an end, my journey in football is not over. I look forward to the opportunities ahead and to continuing to give back to the game that has given me so much.
