NO MATCHES UNDER FLOODLIGHTS AT LUGOGO

Kampala City Capital Authority Football Club has been cleared to host Uganda Premier League games at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, but will not be allowed to play any night matches until its floodlights are fixed.
This is contained in a letter from the FUFA Licensing Committee dated 21st August 2026, addressed to the Chief Executive Officer of KCCA FC, following a re-inspection exercise conducted at the stadium.
According to FUFA, three key observations were made during the re-inspection.
First, the field of play is now deemed playable after the club fitted temporary artificial turf patches in the previously affected goal areas.

Second, satisfactory progress is being made on the extension of the technical benches to meet the required seating capacity.
Third, and most crucial, the floodlights have not yet been upgraded to the standards stipulated in the FUFA Stadium Regulations.
On the basis of these findings, FUFA has commended KCCA FC for the efforts undertaken to improve the facility since the previous assessment. The committee confirmed that MTN Omondi Stadium has been upgraded to a FUFA Category 1 Stadium and is consequently allowed to host Uganda Premier League matches.
However, the approval comes with a strict condition.
“However, no UPL matches will be played under floodlights until the floodlight illuminance is a minimum of 800 LUX,” the letter signed by FUFA Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Ampaire Sheba Ronah reads in part.

FUFA further reminded the club that the temporary approval will permanently elapse by 31st December 2026, in accordance with the letter dated 24th July 2026, in the event that the current artificial turf is not replaced with a new FIFA-certified Artificial turf or natural grass of the accepted standard required in the FUFA Stadium and Playground Regulations.
This means KCCA FC can host day games at Lugogo, but all fixtures under floodlights remain banned until the 800 LUX requirement is met.
