Andy Kyambadde Set For Uganda Premier League Return
Former Soltilo Bright Stars FC captain Andy Kyambadde is on the verge of making a return to the Startimes Uganda Premier League with Express Football Club.
Kyambadde has been without a top-flight club since the 2024/25 season, when Soltilo Bright Stars suffered relegation to the FUFA Big League. The defender was a key figure for the Kavumba-based side during his time there, leading the team with experience and composure at the back. His leadership qualities and consistency earned him the captain’s armband, and he is now set for a fresh start with one of the league’s historic clubs.
The centre-back is widely known for his excellent game reading, dominance in aerial duels, and ability to initiate attacks from defence. Those attributes made him stand out in the UPL, and Express FC believe he will add much-needed depth and leadership to their backline as they prepare for the 2026/27 season. Under the stewardship of head coach Morley Byekwaso, the Red Eagles are looking to build a squad capable of competing at the top, and Kyambadde’s arrival fits that ambition.
Kyambadde’s football journey has taken him through several levels of the Ugandan game. He started out at Destiny Soccer Academy before turning out for Proline . He later played for Luzira United in the Nakawa 4th Division and featured for Buluuri in the prestigious Masaza Cup. His performances earned him a move to Soltilo Bright Stars FC, where he established himself as a reliable defender and eventually captained the side in the Uganda Premier League.
For the player, it is a chance to return to the top tier and prove that he still has a lot to offer at the highest level of Ugandan football.
