Goalkeeper Khassim Hafizu Bids Farewell To Express FC Ahead Of Anticipated Move To Another UPL Side
Goalkeeper Khassim Hafizu has officially bid farewell to Express Football Club, bringing an end to his chapter with the Red Eagles.
In an emotional message, Hafizu reflected on his time at Wankulukuku and thanked everyone who was part of his journey.
“My chapter with Express FC comes to a close, but the memories will last forever.
Thank you to the club, management, coaches, and my brothers on the pitch for the good moments we built together.
This club gave me so much. I leave with my head high and my heart full.”
Hafizu’s journey in Ugandan football has taken him through different levels of the game. Before his stint with Express, he turned out for CATDA Football Club. He also featured for Kiyinda Boys Football Club on a double-license basis in the FUFA Big League, where he gained valuable experience between the posts.
The shot-stopper is now expected to be unveiled by Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club ahead of the new season. At URA, Hafizu will link up again with former Express FC head coach Jimmy Kintu, under whom he worked during his time with the Red Eagles.
The move to the tax collectors will see Hafizu compete for the number one spot with experienced goalkeepers Chrispus Kusiima and Meddie Ssekeeba. With his pedigree and determination, Hafizu will be hoping to establish himself as a key figure in URA’s ambitions for the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League campaign.
As he leaves Express FC, Hafizu departs with the gratitude of the club and its supporters, but his next challenge now awaits with another of the league’s giants.
