BRFA Holds Successful 12th AGM, Unveils UGX 257.45M Budget for 2027

The Buganda Region Football Association (BRFA) held its 12th Annual General Assembly on Saturday, October 3, at the FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, where it unveiled a UGX 257,450,000 budget for the 2027 calendar year.

The Assembly registered overwhelming attendance, with over 60 of the 79 delegates from the 25 districts that constitute the Buganda Region in attendance.

FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo was represented by FUFA Executive Committee Member Dr. Apollo Ahimbisibwe, who cautioned against the growing influence of non-association football tournaments, describing them as a threat to Association Football in Uganda.

“I always request you, the delegates from Buganda RFA, to always attend the General Assembly. It is where we come to discuss matters concerning football,” Dr. Ahimbisibwe said.

“Football has so many opportunities. All of us here have jobs we do, so let’s support each other as football people. It is that money we use towards the development of the game,” he added.

“Football has changed in terms of marketing. Let’s use all possible avenues, including the media, to promote the game. We should be very strategic,” Dr. Ahimbisibwe noted.

BRFA Chairman Andrew Kaweesa appreciated FUFA for its continued support but called for more investment, particularly in women’s football.

“We appreciate FUFA for the support, but we still need more as we still have a lot to do. We should also focus highly on the development of women’s football within the region,” Kaweesa said.

“We are trying so hard to engage sponsors to come on board, but we can only achieve that when we join hands. Sponsors need numbers, so let’s fight together on that,” he added.

The Assembly approved the new budget, which represents a UGX 21 million increase from the 2025 budget of UGX 236 million.

The funds are expected to be generated from club registrations, anticipated grants from FUFA, capacity-building programs, and fines.

Expenditure will primarily cover Third Division officiating, the regional team competing in the FUFA Drum, the Women’s Third Division, and the provincial leagues across the four zones of the Buganda Region.
