UPDF FC Complete Signing of Buwambo United Midfielder
Bombo-based Uganda Premier League side UPDF FC have announced the signing of highly-rated midfielder Innocent Ongurucho ‘Mensor’ from Buganda Regional League champions Buwambo United FC. The dynamic midfielder has put pen to paper on a four-year employment contract with the army side as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
Ongurucho was one of the standout performers for Buwambo United last season, playing a crucial role in their triumphant campaign that saw them crowned champions of the Buganda Regional League.

His influence was even more evident during the FUFA Regional League promotional playoffs, where Buwambo faced Kampala Region League champions Black Stars FC. Over two tightly contested legs, Ongurucho rose to the occasion and scored two vital goals for his side, underlining his big-match temperament and importance to the team.
Having previously joined Buwambo United from Mairye United, the young midfielder is now set for a major step up in his career as he prepares to make his debut in the Uganda Premier League with UPDF FC. It will be his first experience in top-flight football, a challenge he will be eager to embrace after proving himself at the regional level.
Away from club football, Ongurucho has also made a name for himself in the prestigious Buganda Masaza Cup.
He was part of the Bugerere team that surprised many by storming into the semi-finals last year. This year, Bugerere are once again competitive, currently sitting third in the Muganzirwaza Group with 14 points and one match remaining.
Ongurucho is described as a complete box-to-box midfielder who brings balance to the team. He offers solid cover for the defence, is confident at initiating attacks, has the ability to break lines with his passing and movement, and possesses a sharp eye for goal.
