Ugandan Defender Geoffrey Wasswa Agrees to Join Adama City .
Adama City have reached an agreement to sign Ugandan central defender Geoffrey Wasswa ahead of the new Ethiopian Premier League season.
The experienced defender, who spent last season with Fasil Kenema – the Emperors – has decided to move on after a highly consistent campaign. Wasswa was a mainstay in the Fasil backline, featuring in 31 matches and clocking an impressive 2,970 minutes of action throughout the concluded season.
Adama City, who have opted to retain head coach Fasil Tekalign for the upcoming campaign, have been relatively quiet in the transfer market compared to their Premier League rivals. The club had previously secured the services of Asegenh Petros, Fitsum Alemu and Bona Ali, all of whom previously played for Mekelle 70 Enderta, along with Yihun Endeshaw. The addition of Wasswa is now seen as a major defensive boost for the side.
Wasswa is no stranger to football in both Uganda and Ethiopia. Before moving to Ethiopia, he built his reputation at home with top Ugandan clubs including Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Vipers SC, and SC Villa. After crossing the border, he had one-year stints with Ethiopia Bunna and later Fasil Kenema, where he established himself as one of the league’s most reliable centre-backs.
His move to Adama is expected to bring much-needed experience, leadership and solidity to a team looking to improve on its previous league standing and mount a stronger challenge in the 2026/27 season.
