Nabukenya, Nyembo Shine At ForteBet Real Stars August Awards
Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC captain Agnes Nabukenya was the star attraction at the Fortebet Real Stars Monthly Sports Awards for August 2026 after being crowned the best footballer for the month.
The awards were officially handed over on Tuesday, September 8, at Nanjing Restaurant in Kololo, Kampala, celebrating outstanding performances by Ugandan sports personalities during August.
Nabukenya emerged ahead of male football nominees Richard Basangwa of NEC FC and Saidi Mayanja of Police FC, becoming one of the standout performers of a memorable month for Ugandan women’s football.

The Kawempe Muslim captain played a central role in her club’s historic continental campaign, skippering the team at the 2026 CECAFA Women’s Club Championship in Kigali, Rwanda.
Kawempe Muslim went on to secure qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League, becoming the first Ugandan club to reach the prestigious continental stage.
“I am very grateful that God has enabled me to win this accolade. It is a result of giving everything and is a big push for me together with fellow players,” Nabukenya said.
Khalifah Honoured for Lifetime Contribution

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC head coach Ayub Khalifah was also recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his 25-year contribution to football.
Much of Khalifah’s career has been dedicated to nurturing women’s football and developing female players, making him one of the long-serving figures in Uganda’s women’s game.
Basketball Stars Also Recognised
In women’s basketball, Matrina Anyango took the top honour after beating Brenda Kayaga and Zoe Atek to the award.
The men’s basketball accolade went to Fataki Frank Nyembo of National Basketball League champions Namuwongo Blazers.
Nyembo played a key role in helping Namuwongo Blazers retain the National Basketball League title in 2026, winning the championship for the second consecutive year.
He saw off competition from Tony Drilleba and Patrick Rembert.
A Decade of Celebrating Ugandan Sport
The Fortebet Real Stars Monthly Sports Awards have now been running for about a decade, providing a platform to recognise athletes and sports personalities who excel in their respective disciplines.
The awards are supported by betting company Fortebet and Jude Colour Solutions, alongside other partners and media organisations.
Isaac Mukasa, Executive Director of Real Stars Agency, the organisers of the awards, praised the continued support from sponsors and the media in keeping the initiative alive.
“Since inception, I salute our key sponsors, Fortebet and Jude Colour Solutions, plus all media houses who promote the sportsmen and their activities. We appreciate the sportsmen for motivating them and appreciate their effort,” Mukasa said.
Mukasa, a sports journalist and politician, also applauded the athletes for continuing to raise the profile of Ugandan sport through their performances.
The next edition of the Fortebet Real Stars Monthly Sports Awards will be held in early October, when the organisers will recognise the country’s outstanding performers for September 2026.
