Uganda’s national boxing team, the Bombers, have received an equipment boost from Multi Sports Centre as they intensify preparations for the African Boxing Championships in Kenya, with the support expected to strengthen the team’s readiness for the continental challenge.
The donation comes ahead of the team’s scheduled departure on October 15, with the Bombers expected to return to Uganda on October 28 after competing against some of Africa’s best boxers under the World Boxing banner.

The 28-member Ugandan delegation comprises 18 boxers, three coaches, two referees and five officials. It will be led by Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) executive committee member and organising secretary Ibrahim Sekiziyivu.
The team has been conducting residential training at Lugogo as it prepares for the championships, which will provide an important test of Uganda’s boxing strength and offer the national team an opportunity to compete for continental honours.
The equipment boost is part of a broader two-year partnership between UBF and Multi Sports Centre, unveiled in Kampala, with the collaboration expected to support the Bombers at the African championships and extend to the Boxing Champions League.

UBF president Moses Muhangi welcomed the partnership, describing it as a significant step towards improving support for the national team while reshaping the public perception of boxing.
“We have entered into a partnership with Multi Sports Centre. The partnership comes with support for the national team heading to Kenya first and later to the Boxing Champions League,” Muhangi said.
The federation president also emphasised the importance of corporate involvement in transforming the sport’s image and creating a more professional environment for boxers.
“This sponsorship has reaffirmed that boxing is no longer a sport for thugs. The commitment of corporate companies to the sport cements our direction towards making the image of boxing admired by everyone,” he added.
Muhangi represented UBF at the partnership unveiling, while Multi Sports Centre managing director Ghulam Rabbani represented the sponsoring company.

Rabbani said the company was pleased to contribute to the development of boxing in Uganda, highlighting the importance of providing athletes with quality equipment to improve their performance.
“Boxing is a growing sport, and we are glad to be part of it. Our intention is to provide national team boxers with quality products that can enable them to perform effectively,” Rabbani said.
The partnership comes at a crucial stage for the Bombers, who will be looking to turn their preparations and the additional support into competitive performances in Kenya.
Beyond the African championships, the two-year agreement signals a wider push to attract corporate investment into Ugandan boxing, with the Boxing Champions League also expected to benefit from the collaboration.
For UBF, the backing represents an opportunity to strengthen the national team’s preparations, improve the sport’s professional image and build lasting relationships with corporate partners as Ugandan boxers pursue success on the continental stage.
