Steel And Composure: Kitara Bolster Midfield With Nicholas Kasozi Signing

Kitara Football Club have added experience and steel to their midfield with the signing of defensive midfielder Nicholas Kasozi on a two-year deal.

The 30-year-old joins the Royals as a free agent following his departure from Tanzanian Premier League side Kagera Sugar FC. The move also marks a reunion with head coach Wasswa Bbosa, who previously worked with Kasozi and played a key role in his development.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Kasozi said he was eager to get started.
“I’m delighted to be back in the Uganda Premier League, and with Kitara Football Club. I’ve worked with coach Wasswa Bbosa before and he is one of the coaches that helped me grow my career, so I hope our reunion will be a great one. At Kitara, I bring healthy competition and character to the team, and I believe we shall succeed together.”

Calm, industrious, and assured under pressure, Kasozi is the type of midfielder who quietly dictates the tempo of a game. It was his range of passing and eye for building attacks from deep that first caught the attention of Kitara’s technical bench.

His career has taken him across some of Uganda’s biggest clubs. It began with eye-catching displays for the now-defunct Synergy FC, performances that earned him a big move to SC Villa in 2017 and launched him into the top flight. From there he went on to turn out for KCCA FC, Express FC and Kyetume FC, before crossing the border to test himself in Tanzania with Kagera Sugar.

Now back on home soil, Kasozi will be counted on to bring both steel and composure to a Kitara side preparing for a demanding season ahead. The Hoima-based club will compete in the FUFA Super 8, the Uganda Premier League, the Uganda Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup.

For Coach Bbosa, having a player he already knows and trusts anchoring the midfield could prove invaluable as the club chases success on multiple fronts.

Nicholas Kasozi featured for Clubs like Synergy FC, SC Villa, KCCA FC, Kagera Sugar among others.
