The handover was made to the State Minister for Sports, Honorable Peter Ogwang, who stated, “It is a great pleasure that we are initiating the development of one of the AFCON facilities. While some are in doubt about this project,

I assure you that AFCON will happen in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.” He further stated, “For sports development, the government has the funds; it is just a matter of identifying what to develop. That is why when FUFA came up with this AFCON hosting idea, the government backed and supported it fundamentally.”
