Kitara FC president Deo Kasozi has revealed that the Royals have been promised a UGX 400 million bonus if they overcome Egyptian giants Al Ahly and reach the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Kitara face Al Ahly in the first leg on October 17, 2026, at Hoima City Stadium, with the Royals carrying Uganda’s hopes on the continent after league champions Vipers were eliminated.

Kasozi says the UGX 400 million package is only the amount the club can publicly disclose, insisting that more financial rewards await the players if they achieve their continental target.
“Our players have a target of reaching the group stages of the Confederation Cup, and 400 million is already awaiting them,” Kasozi said.
“This is the little we can tell the media, but a lot is awaiting them in bonuses.”
Kasozi backs new signings
The Kitara president believes the club’s recruitment has given them the personnel needed to challenge Al Ahly, despite the Egyptian side’s continental pedigree.
Kasozi says the players were signed with such continental assignments in mind and has backed them to produce a major result in Hoima.
“We signed good players who are capable of doing wonders. Believe me, we are prepared for a win at home and a draw away, then we go to the groups,” he said.
The Royals will be looking to build an advantage in the first leg before travelling to Egypt for the return fixture.
Kasozi’s confidence has also been boosted by Uganda Cranes’ 1–0 victory over Libya in Hoima on Tuesday, a result he believes demonstrates the potential of Ugandan football when teams receive strong home support.
We know what awaits us
Kasozi also revealed that Kitara have conducted extensive background checks on their opponents and are preparing for the different challenges that could come with playing in Egypt.
He insisted that the Royals will not be intimidated by the occasion or their opponents.
“We are also aware of the non-football things done by these Arab countries, but I assure you we have the antidote and nothing will intimidate us,” he added.
The club is now calling for massive support from Ugandan football fans when Al Ahly arrive in Hoima.
Kasozi has urged Kitara supporters, football lovers, the media and the entire country to rally behind the Royals as they attempt to write another chapter in Uganda’s continental football story.
For Kitara, the mission is clear: win in Hoima, survive Egypt and collect the ticket to the Confederation Cup group stages with UGX 400 million already waiting at the finish line.
