Former Uganda Cranes captain Andy Mwesigwa has organized a major charity football match to rescue AMESCO High School from an impending bank auction.
The match features Andy Mwesigwa XI vs. Lutalo & Lutaaya XI, taking place at Hamz Stadium (Nakivubo) in Kampala with match entry set at UGX 10,000.
Urgent Financial Crisis at AMESCO High School
The fundraising initiative comes following severe financial challenges surrounding AMESCO High School. The school faces an auction risk over a loan dispute, with a deadline set for Friday, October 16, 2026, to settle 30% of the mortgage regulation fee.
The mandatory court stop-fee stands at over UGX 390 million, while the lender claims a total of UGX 1.3 billion. Under legal regulations, the school proprietor must clear the initial 30% payment before court proceedings can address the dispute.
“The situation is tense at the moment, but some well-wishers have already contributed and I assure our people that we are not at zero,” Mwesigwa stated during his appeal. “We have organized a fundraising game at Hamz Stadium and I am humbly calling upon every Ugandan to join us in this cause of saving AMESCO High School.”
He emphasized that the school supports numerous vulnerable students:
“It is not only my personal concern because we have a lot of students on free education due to their family status and others because of their sports talents.”
Match Details and Mobile Money Donation Channels
With Hamz Stadium boasting a 20,000 capacity, maximum attendance would generate approximately UGX 200 million directly toward the mortgage fee target.
