Okello Scored A Hattrick As Young Africans Thrashed TRA United 3-0
Allan Okello stole the show on the opening day of the NBC Tanzania Premier League, scoring a hattrick to power Young Africans SC to a dominant 3-0 win over TRA United. The result takes Yanga top of the table with 72 points from 29 matches, with just one game left to play.
The Uganda Cranes attacking midfielder opened the scoring in the 27th minute, tapping home from close range after Prince Dube’s cross. He doubled Yanga’s lead in the 51st minute from the penalty spot after TRA United defender Christopher Tebandeke handled Chandrak Boka’s cross in the area. Okello completed his hattrick in the 60th minute, once again reacting fastest in the box after TRA’s defense failed to deal with another dangerous Boka delivery from the left flank.
It was a frustrating afternoon for TRA United, with Boka proving to be a constant threat down the left throughout the match. The victory keeps Young Africans firmly in control of the title race with one match remaining.
Okello’s treble also took him to 14 goals in 21 league games this season, moving him to within one goal of the Golden Boot leader, Feisal Salum of Azam FC, who has 15.
