UPL Confirms Home Venues for 2026/27 Season as Clubs Share Grounds
The Uganda Premier League (UPL) has confirmed the home venues for all 18 clubs ahead of the 2026/27 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season, with several teams set to share stadiums across the country.
The venue list presents a mixture of established football grounds and alternative facilities, while also highlighting the continued challenge of securing suitable home venues for top flight clubs.
Among the biggest beneficiaries of the arrangement is Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, which will serve as the home ground for four clubs Entebbe UPPC FC, Express FC, UPDF FC and URA FC.
At MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, KCCA FC will share home duties with NEC FC, while Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, will host both Maroons FC and SC Villa.
In Hoima, Hoima City Stadium will accommodate both Blacks Power FC and Kitara FC, while Rwamwanja Stadium in Kamwenge will be shared by Kigezi HomeBoyz FC and Mbarara City FC.

Omondi Stadium night football restriction
One of the notable developments is the restriction on night fixtures at MTN Omondi Stadium, the home venue for both KCCA FC and NEC FC.
The restriction is likely to have an impact on the scheduling of matches involving the two Lugogo based sides, particularly as evening kick-offs have become an important feature of the modern UPL calendar.
With Omondi Stadium unable to host night matches, KCCA and NEC may have fewer options for evening home fixtures, potentially increasing pressure on the league’s scheduling programme.
However, the restriction also provides an opportunity for the league and clubs to plan fixtures more efficiently around available daylight hours while ensuring the safety and suitability of the venues.
Shared stadiums bring both benefits and challenges
The extensive sharing of venues could help the UPL maintain a consistent fixture programme while clubs continue to work around stadium availability and infrastructure requirements.
However, shared grounds also require careful coordination to protect playing surfaces, manage training schedules and avoid clashes between clubs, particularly at venues hosting multiple teams.
Hamz Stadium will carry the heaviest load, with four UPL clubs calling it home. Omondi, Wankulukuku, Hoima City Stadium and Rwamwanja will each accommodate two clubs.
For supporters, the arrangement means some teams will effectively play their home matches away from their traditional geographical bases. Mbarara City, for example, will host its home fixtures in Kamwenge, while Blacks Power will share Hoima City Stadium with Kitara.
The confirmed venues therefore set the stage for a season in which stadium availability, scheduling and ground management could be just as important off the pitch as performances will be on it.
With the 18 clubs now having designated home venues, attention will turn to the official fixture schedule and how the UPL manages the logistical demands of a season involving several shared grounds and the reduced availability of night football at Omondi Stadium.
