FUFA BIG LEAGUE: Paidha Black Angels Maintain Perfect Start as Catda, Kiyinda Boys and SC Volcanoes Also Win
The FUFA Big League continued yesterday with Matchday Three action across different venues, producing late drama, hard-fought victories and another statement from promotion-chasing Paidha Black Angels.
At Greenlight Stadium, Arua:
Paidha Black Angels SC came from a goal down to edge hosts Onduparaka FC 2-1 courtesy of a brace from attacking midfielder Muber Eric.
Coach Twinamatsiko Mark’s side are on fire, having won all their opening three matches to keep their promotion ambitions alive.
At Iganga Ssaza Ground:
Habib Oloya’s 73rd-minute strike was enough as SC Volcanoes defeated Iganga United FC 1-0 away from home.
It was the second victory of the campaign for Coach Ssempigi Saddick’s side, who have now kept two clean sheets in what is shaping up to be a strong promotion push.
At Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo:
Catda FC, also known as the Lufula Boys, recorded a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Young Elephants FC.
Catda FC were dominant throughout the match but were not clinical enough, including a missed penalty from Kikambi Junior.
Two minutes to stoppage time, substitute Ashiraf Neymar unleashed a long-range shot that beat the Young Elephants goalkeeper and sent the home fans wild.
The victory means Coach Luyima Richard’s side remain unbeaten at home with two wins in two games.
At Bertram City Recreational Grounds, Kiwenda:
Hosts Kiyinda Boys FC left it late against Pakwach Young Stars.
Kiyinda Boys recorded two late goals through Lutaaya Edrine and Douglas Ochoko in the 84th and 88th minutes respectively.
Forward Douglas Ochoko scored his first goal for Kiyinda Boys FC, a side he joined this season from Gasogi United in Rwanda.
At Midigo Primary School Playground:
Nothing separated Calvary FC and Amus College FC as they played out a goalless draw.
After three matchdays, Paidha Black Angels have set the early pace with a perfect record, while SC Volcanoes, Catda FC and Kiyinda Boys FC also picked up crucial wins to stay in contention.
With the league still in its early stages, the battle for promotion is already heating up as teams look to build momentum.
