Kitara Football Club has announced the signing of Ghanaian defender Christopher Bonney on a two-year contract.

The acquisition is part of Kitara’s preparations for a busy 2026/27 season, with the club set to feature in the CAF Confederation Cup, Uganda Premier League, and Stanbic Uganda Cup.

Bonney becomes Kitara’s first signing of the transfer window. He arrives with experience from four Ghana Premier League clubs and a stint in Tajikistan’s Vysshaya Liga.

The technical team believes his composure, experience, and physical presence will be key to strengthening the defense this season.

Primarily a center back, the towering Ghanaian can also play at right back and in defensive midfield, giving Kitara extra tactical options.

He will be battling for a starting position with Murushid Jjuuko, Isa Lumu, Benjamin Nyakoojo, and Samuel Kato Nimeyimana.

After completing his move, Bonney said he was eager to get going.
“There’s a lot expected of me by my teammates and the fans, but I’m fully committed and determined to help us win games and trophies this season,” he stated.

“I understand the challenge ahead, but I’m here to grow as a player and help the team achieve success. I can’t wait to get started.”

Kitara FC head coach Wasswa Bbosa expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition of Christopher Bonney, noting that the club had observed the defender closely over time.

“We have monitored him for a while and we are delighted to welcome him. He brings a positive mentality, valuable experience, and will provide healthy competition within the squad. We expect him to play an important role next season,” Bbosa stated.

Christopher Bonney arrives at Kitara with experience across Ghana and abroad.

His club career includes stints at:
Asante Kotoko SC in 2013/14, Ebusua Dwarfs FC in 2015/16, Hearts of Oak FC in 2017/18, and Kerala United FC in 2021/22.

Most recently, he played in Tajikistan for Panjsher Balkh during the 2023/24 season.

In total, Bonney made over 40 appearances in the Ghana Premier League — split between Kotoko (11), Dwarfs (20), Hearts (8) and Kerala United (7). In Tajikistan, he added another 22 appearances.
