Young Africans Appoint Trophy-Laden Manqoba Mngqithi As New Head Coach
Tanzania Premier League champions Young Africans SC have confirmed the appointment of South African tactician Manqoba Mngqithi as their new head coach.
The 55-year-old takes over after the mid-season departure of Gonçalves Pedro. Interim coaches Abdihamid Moalin and Patrick Mabedi steadied the ship and guided Yanga to the 2025-26 NBC Tanzania Premier League title.
With domestic dominance secured, Yanga’s focus now shifts to Africa. The club will be targeting a deeper run in the CAF Champions League after an early exit at the group stages in the last edition.
Mngqithi arrives with exactly that pedigree. He is one of the most decorated coaches in South African football history.
Mngqithi has previously handled Mamelodi Sundowns, AmaZulu FC, Chippa United, and Golden Arrows. His honours include:

Yanga will also bank on Ugandan attacking midfielder Allan Okello, who was instrumental last season with 14 league goals and 8 assists.
