Charles  Lwanga Returns to KCCA FC For Second Stint

Lwanga Charles Rejoins KCCA FC

Uganda Premier League giants land former SC Villa forward

KCCA FC have completed the return of forward Charles Lwanga, putting pen to paper to rejoin the Kasasiro Boys.

The Uganda Premier League giants confirmed the deal today, bringing Lwanga back to Lugogo just over two years after he left for SC Villa. His contract at Villa Park expired at the end of the 2025-26 season, making him a free agent. Lwanga becomes the second player to make the switch from SC Villa to KCCA FC in this transfer window, following midfielder Elvis Ngonde.

Lwanga’s return feels like coming full circle. He originally joined KCCA FC from SC Villa in 2020 and spent three seasons at Lugogo before rejoining the Jogoos in 2023. During his first stint with KCCA, he finished as the club’s top scorer in his debut campaign with 12 goals across all competitions, establishing himself as a clutch performer at the MTN Omondi Stadium.

Before his first spell at KCCA, Lwanga had made his name at SC Villa. He rose through their ranks after joining from Nakawa Fourth Division side Kasokoso Farmers in 2017 under the stewardship of Kalungi Bashir. He started with the SC Villa U17s where he was prolific — netting 33 goals and 21 assists in 35 games — before being promoted to the senior team, where he added 3 goals and 3 assists in 19 appearances.

Now back at KCCA with three more years of top-flight experience, Lwanga returns as a more mature and battle-tested attacker.

Speaking after signing his new deal, Lwanga said he is ready to “rewrite his story” in yellow and blue.
“I am happy to be back, and I want to rewrite my story here,” Lwanga said. “I am eager to work with the players and coaches at the club. They are top quality players here, so I expect the competition levels to be up, and I am hopeful I can achieve a lot of success with this club.” via KCCA FC Club website

KCCA FC head coach Brian Ssenyondo welcomed the forward’s return and outlined how he plans to use him.
“Charles possesses a combination of raw pace and a proven goal scoring instinct in this league,” Ssenyondo told the club website. “We know exactly how we want to deploy his strengths to make our front line more lethal. He understands the culture of this club, and his hunger to achieve big things aligns perfectly with our vision for the season.” via KCCA FC Club Website

ChsrHe arrives not as the teenage prodigy who left in 2023, but as an experienced forward determined to write an even bigger second chapter.
