Switzerland Send Algeria Packing with 2-0 Win to Reach World Cup Last 16
Switzerland eliminated Algeria 2-0 in their FIFA World Cup Round of 32 clash at BC Place, Vancouver.
Breel Embolo opened the scoring in the 10th minute. Johan Manzambi drove forward on a solo run, cut the ball back, and Embolo made no mistake, slotting home.
Manzambi continued his impressive tournament. The youngster now has three goals and two assists at the World Cup so far.
Algeria were punished early in the second half. A poor clearance from the backline fell to Dan Ndoye, who made it 2-0 just a minute after the restart.
Embolo was named Superior Man of the Match for his performance against Algeria.
Algeria were dumped out by two players with African heritage: Cameroonian-born Breel Embolo and Dan Ndoye, who is of Senegalese descent.
