Masaza Cup Match Day 2: Kyagwe Make It Two From Two As Defending Champions Buweekula Stumble
The Masaza Cup burst back into life over the weekend with Match Day 2, and the tournament already has stories. Nine county sides were in action across the Buganda Kingdom, with title favourites Kyagwe keeping a 100% record, defending champions Buweekula suffering an early setback, and Bulemeezi parting ways with their coach after two defeats.

Match-by-Match Analysis
Kyagwe 1-0 Busiro | Bishops Mukono Playground.
Kyagwe weren’t at their most clinical, but they were effective.
They missed a penalty through attacking midfielder David Mugalu and wasted a few other chances, but they found a way. New signing Shaban Kayongo headed home in the 64th minute after Busiro failed to clear their lines, sparking wild celebrations from the home fans.
USSSA U20 MVP Munjukyakisa ran the show in midfield and was named Man of the Match.
Kyagwe have registered now two wins in two matches played so far .
Kyadondo 1-1 Buddu |
Buddu struck first through Enyabu Joseph in the 23rd minute, but Kyadondo responded quickly. Buwambo forward Ssekatawa Enock equalized in the 35th minute to share the points.
Coach Bright Nyanzi’s Kyadondo are still searching for a first win after two draws. Stephen Yiga of Buddu was named Man of the Match.
Bulemeezi 0-1 Mawokota | Kasana Luweero.
Mawokota bounced back from a Match Day 1 home loss to Kyagwe with a big away result. Herbert Kibirango netted the solitary strike to give coach Richard Malinga three points. Kibirango was also named Man of the Match.
The defeat proved costly for Bulemeezi. Reports say Coach Leo Ssekamatte has parted ways with the Bulemeezi after two disappointing results.
Gomba 2-1 Ssese | Kabulasoke Playground
Gomba started fast and never looked back. Alfred Ssebunya opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, and Ssewanyana Robert made it 2-0 just two minutes later.
Musitwa Reagan pulled one back for Ssese in the 70th minute, but it was only a consolation.
Gomba goalkeeper Bashir Ssenyonga was outstanding and took Man of the Match honors.
Kabula 1-1 Butambala
A tight contest ended level. Kennedy Kirembeka put Kabula ahead, before Mubiru Dathan replied for Butambala.
Akram Kato from Kabula was voted Man of the Match.
Kooki shared spoils 1-1 with Singo as Alex Akankwasa was named the man of the match .
Mawogola 1-1 Bugerere
Asiku Gerald scored for the home side Mawogola, while Ongurucho Innocent answered for Bugerere to make it 1-1.
Herbert Masaba of Bugerere was named Man of the Match.
Buluuri 1-2 Busujju
Busujju took all three points on the road. Noordine Ssembatya and Erias Kayemba scored for the visitors, while Nsereko Oscar got Buluuri’s goal.
Buvuma 1-0 Buweekula | Saturday
The shock of the weekend. Buvuma defeated defending champions Buweekula 1-0 to hand the holders an early stumble.
Buweekula are winless in their two opening fixtures having drawn goalless with Kyadondo in their first match .
Match Day 2 showed we won’t be getting a walkover for any county this year. Kyagwe look organized and ruthless when it matters, Gomba and Mawokota have momentum, while Buweekula and Bulemeezi already have work to do. With penalties missed, late winners, and a defending champion beaten, the Masaza Cup is shaping up to be unpredictable again.
