UPDF FC Sign Promising Left Back Robert Kitabalwa from Kator FC

Uganda Premier League side UPDF FC have strengthened their defensive options with the signing of promising left back Robert Kitabalwa from South Sudanese club Kator FC.

The 22-year-old defender joins UPDF with a reputation as one of Uganda’s emerging talents in the left back position, bringing defensive leadership, intelligent game reading and attacking quality to the army side.

Kitabalwa is particularly known for his ability to win one-on-one situations, deliver accurate crosses and strike the ball with power, qualities that could make him an important addition to UPDF as they prepare for the new Uganda Premier League season.

The lanky defender has built his career through a number of notable football institutions. He developed at St Mary’s Kitende before featuring for SC Villa’s youth side, Jjogo Young, Kalo Karungi and Uganda Martyrs University, before moving abroad to join Kator FC in South Sudan.

His return to Uganda and arrival in the top flight presents another opportunity for the young defender to prove himself at a higher level and potentially attract the attention of the national team selectors.

With Uganda preparing for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil, the emergence of young, quality players in key positions could further widen the pool available to the national team.
