Metropolitan International University Out to Make History in University Football League
Metropolitan International University (MIU) is set to make a statement as it makes its debut in the prestigious University Football League (UFL).
Founded 10 years ago in 2016, the university has steadily invested in sports development and is now among the three new entrants in this year’s UFL, alongside Seeta University and the University of World Mission Frontiers.
Led by Vice Chancellor Dr. Alinaitwe Julius and Dean of Students Nkalubo Dauda, MIU boasts three campuses – Kisoro as the main campus, Mbarara, and Kampala. The Kampala campus will serve as the team’s home ground for the competition.
The team will be under the stewardship of Head Coach Ssali Mubarak. In preparation for the league, they have already played three build-up matches, showing promising form. They defeated International University of East Africa (IUEA) 3-2, secured a 1-0 victory over Africa Renewal University, and drew 1-1 with last season’s runners-up YMCA.
Speaking ahead of their debut campaign, Head Coach Ssali Mubarak made the team’s ambitions clear:
“The efforts invested in the initial stages of anything, especially preparation, should ensure that you are not vulnerable to failure. We are not just here to participate, to go through the group stages, or to make it to the knockout rounds. As MIU, we are here to win the University League.”
Dean of Students Nkalubo Dauda echoed the same winning mentality:
“Every step you take calls for assessment, analysis, and taking action to make positive progress. We are not only registering to participate in the UFL, but we are here to be winners because we are together at every stage to ensure that no issue interferes with our goal.”
With thorough preparations, strong institutional support, and a clear winning mindset, Metropolitan International University is not entering the University Football League merely to add numbers. They are coming to make history and announce themselves as serious contenders for the title.

I pray for our university
God bless the work of our hands
Amen
