URA FC Sign Defender Sharif Lubega from Express FC
Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) has completed the signing of defender Sharif Lubega from Express FC on a two-year deal.
The Mango-Kadiba born defender has been handed shirt number 16 and becomes the latest addition to Head Coach Jimmy Kintu Mwera’s squad ahead of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season.
Lubega’s arrival is expected to add depth, competition and solidity to the Tax Collectors’ backline as the club builds for a stronger campaign.
The versatile defender brings vast experience from his stints at NEC FC, Catda FC, Express FC, Wakiso Giants, UCU FC and Ntinda United. He played a key role as NEC FC secured promotion to the FUFA Big League from the Kampala Region League after beating Water FC in the playoff final.
A product of Go Lead Academy and St. Henry’s College Kitovu, Lubega has also previously represented Buddu Ssaza in the Buganda Masaza Cup.
Speaking after sealing the move, Lubega expressed his delight:
“I am very happy to join URA FC and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with Coach Jimmy Kintu. The reception from my teammates has been very good and it has made me feel welcome. I am ready to work hard, give my best for the team and help the club achieve silverware. I believe this is an important step in my career.”
Away from football, Lubega holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from Uganda Christian University (UCU).
He joins fellow new signings Muhammad Kyeyune, Elvis Ssekajugo, Marvin Nyanzi, Marvin Praise Wambuga, Eric Okutu and returning defender Mikidad Ssenyonga at the club.
