Cricket Cranes Flagged For Final Round Of World Cup Qualifiers In Tanzania
With just under a week to go to the final round of the International Cricket Council Cricket World Cup Challenge League B in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the Uganda Cricket Cranes were flagged off on July 31 ahead of their trip on Sunday for the tournament scheduled between August 6–19.
On an unbeaten run against six opponents, the Uganda Cricket Cranes have accumulated 18 points from 10 matches, with eight victories and two no-results.
Head Coach Steven Tikolo is targeting maximum points from the five games in Tanzania.
“We are going to take it a game at a time. I have spoken to the boys about it,” he said.
“We want to win all our five matches because we also want to send a very strong statement to the world and to the opposition,” he added.
Uganda will play Tanzania on the 8th, before must-win matches against Italy on the 11th, Hong Kong, China on the 15th, Bahrain on the 18th, and Singapore on the 20th.
Before these ties, Uganda lead the six-team standings, two points ahead of Italy on 16 points, and Hong Kong, China on 12 points.
For the mission, the Uganda Cricket Cranes travelling contingent consists of 22 members, with 14 players. This includes opening batsman Simon Ssesaazi, who returns to the team after missing the first two rounds.
