BADRU BUTABIKA PARISH CUP AIMED TO PROMOTE YOUTH UNITY AND DISCIPLINE

In a commendable move to empower and engage the youth, Mr. Ssebyatika Badru, the Youth Vice Chairman in Butabika Parish, Youth Chairman Bbina D, Coach and Football Referee, has officially organized a community football tournament dubbed the Badru Butabika Parish Cup.

The tournament, which is aimed at bringing together young people from across Butabika Parish, is slated to kick off on 1st November and run through to December.

In a bid to encourage maximum participation, the organizers have announced that no registration fee will be required for teams wishing to take part. This open-door policy is expected to attract a large number of local teams and create a vibrant and competitive atmosphere throughout the parish.

According to the organizing committee, all group stage matches and knockout games will be played at Kasiramu Playground.

The grand finale, however, will be staged at the bigger and more spacious Luzira Secondary School Playground to accommodate the anticipated large crowd. The stakes are high, with the eventual winner set to walk away with 300,000 Uganda Shillings, a glittering trophy, while the runners-up will be awarded medals for their effort.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Ssebyatika Badru revealed that the event will begin in a unique way.

He stated that they shall first have a marathon run around Butabika Parish to mobilize the community and sensitize the masses, before kicking off the opening football match in the evening. He emphasized that this marathon is not just for fitness, but to symbolize unity and collective movement as one parish.

Theme of the Tournament

The central theme of this year’s tournament is to keep the youth busy, promote unity, and instill a sense of discipline through sports. In a time where many young people are faced with challenges such as unemployment, idleness, and negative peer influence, this tournament comes as a timely intervention.

By keeping the youth actively engaged on the pitch, the initiative aims to steer them away from unproductive behaviors and crime, while fostering teamwork, mutual respect, and healthy competition. It is a platform to identify and nurture raw talent, strengthen the social fabric of Butabika, and create lasting bonds of brotherhood among the youth.

Only players who are valid residents of Butabika Parish with valid National Identity Cards will be allowed to take part, ensuring that the tournament remains truly local and serves its intended purpose.

The Badru Butabika Parish Cup is more than just a football tournament; it is a community development project. The organizers have called upon all residents, local leaders, and well-wishers to come out in large numbers to support the youth. With sports as a universal language, Butabika Parish is set to witness months of excitement, talent, and unity.
